Justice K G Balakrishnan (born 12 May 1945) is an Indian judge who has been the Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission of India. He is a former Chief Justice of India. He was the first judge from Kerala to become the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. His tenure lasting more than three years has been one of the longest in the Supreme Court of India.

After completing his primary education in Thalayolaparambu, he finished school at the Government High School, Vaikom for which he had to walk 5 km every day. Subsequently, he joined the Maharaja's College, Ernakulam, where he studied for his BSc He took his Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B.) degree from the Government Law College, Ernakulam, and enrolled as an advocate in the Kerala Bar Council in 1968, beginning practice at the Munsif's court, Vaikom. He then completed his L.L.M. in 1971.

He became the Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court in 1998, and in 1999, he assumed charge as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Judicature at Madras. While being Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court, he also discharged duties of Governor of Gujarat for about two months.

Hon'ble Justice started practice with his father Late Shri Rajendra Singh Rathore, who was a leading criminal practitioner. Enrolled as an Advocate on 29th January, 1974.

Conducted different types of criminal cases at District Court Fatehgarh and also worked as a Public Prosecutor from 1983 to 1996. During this period conducted several cases of great importance which resulted in favour of the State Government.

In the year 1996 after clearing the H.J.S. competition joined services as Additional District & Sessions Judge and till the year 2007 worked at different stations and decided important criminal and civil cases.

Lordship was promoted as District Judge in October, 2007 and served as District Judge in various districts.

Elevated to the High Court as Judge of Allahabad High Court on 17.04.2012. During his tenure as High Court Judge, worked in important jurisdiction such as service law and different jurisdiction of the criminal side. Had delivered several judgments during this period many of which have been published in the law journal.

Prof. (Dr.) R. Venkata Rao, born on 15th March, 1954, is the Chairperson, Vivekananda School of Law and Legal Studies(VSLLS) and Vivekananda schools of English Studies(VSES), in Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies(VIPS), New Delhi.

Madhava Menon Best Law Teacher Award for the year 2018. Prof. R. Venkata Rao has been awarded the Attorney General K. Parasaran Award in recognition of his Outstanding Scholarship in Legal Education by Capital Foundation Society, New Delhi on 1st September, 2019. To date, he has 42 years of teaching and research experience.

He has the distinction of serving the Statutory Bodies of almost all the Law Schools in the Country. Besides, he is a member of Board of Governors of Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, New Delhi. He also served as Member, Governing Council Indian Law Institute New Delhi and Member, Academic Committee, Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi. He has served as Independent Director in prestigious Public Sector Undertakings like, Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), Bangalore, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), Bangalore, Goa Shipyard Ltd, Goa. He is also a member of different committees in Bar Council of India and is associated with prestigious bodies like UPSC, State Service Commissions, UGC and NAAC among others.

He has the distinction of receiving Gold Medal for the Best Ph.D. Thesis from the Andhra University in 1993, the Best Researcher Award from the Andhra University in 2003, the Best Teacher Award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2006, he has been awarded the “Best Vice Chancellor Award for Outstanding Contribution to Education” during the World Chancellors and Vice Chancellor’s Congress- 2014 held on 27th June 2014 at Mumbai, Amity University, Noida, awarded “Amity Academic Excellence Award” twice, once in 2017 for the most distinguished contribution towards propagation of doctrine of knowledge, at the 17th International Business Summit & Research Conference INBUSH-ERA and again in 2019.

He has authored 6 books and published more than 130 papers. He has successfully guided 3 LL.Ds and 20 Ph.Ds. He has visited more than 30 countries for his academic and research activities.

Prof. (Dr.) T.V. Subba Rao, presently working as Professor-Emeritus, VIPS, Delhi, started his career as teacher of Law in 1978 (Professor of Law since 1992). He is considered as a good teacher, able academician and efficient administrator, the support for which is drawn from his academic and professional background. Prof. Rao made marked contributions in rationalising and strengthening the administrative reforms and systems in the universities in which he worked. He has been instrumental in facilitating the university’s access to funds under the various schemes of the UGC and from other agencies. Ms. Sthavi Asthana, Member of of Executive Council, AGISS Research Institute has done her B.A., LL.B (Hons.) from National Law University, Delhi and is at present pursuing her LL.M. from NALSAR, Hyderabad and is also a practising lawyer in the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, New Delhi.
She has been competing in equestrian sports since 2009. The events in which she competes are Dressage and Show Jumping, both of which are events in the Asian games and Olympics. Equestrian sports are the only sports in the world where women can compete on equal terms against men as there are no separate events for girls / women. There are very few girl competitors in equestrian events even today and she has left a mark on the games by winning numerous medals and awards.
She has won a total of 72 Medals and 5 Trophies (27 Gold, 17 Silver, 28 Bronze) in several years of competing. Details of few of them are as follows:
Junior National Equestrian Championships 2015: 4 Gold 1 Silver National Equestrian Championships / Junior National Equestrian Championships 2014: 1 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze FEI World Challenge Dressage Oct 2014: International Rank 3 (National 2) in Preliminary Senior Class and 9 (National 4) in Elementary Senior Class. ( FEI is Federation Equestre Internationale – ie the international equestrian federation )
All India Preliminary Jumping 2014: Bronze FEI World Challenge Dressage Nov 2011: International Rank 7 (National 1) in Preliminary Jr. Class.
DHS ( Delhi Horse Show) 2014 – silver ( preliminary dressage), Bronze 2 – in Junior Dressage & Junior Jumping DHS 2015 : 7 medals ( 1 gold , 1, silver 4 bronze and 1 fourth) NCC RDC Jan 2012: Cleared 6 Bar jumps at 1.75m – noncompetitive event at 16 yrs age (National Open record Seniors is 1.80m since 2003). DHS 2012: 2 Gold, 3 Silver, 6 Bronze medals (Total 11 medals). Out of these at 16 yrs age: 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze are in (open) Preliminary Jumping (Top score and Normal).
